Hello November!
Good-bye October!
The first Thursday of the eleventh month in the year 2018…
November will have five Thursdays… (Don’t forget… the Fourth Thursday is Thanksgiving!)
Last night, I sat in my driveway dressed up as “Captain America” while passing out candy to anyone who came by saying “Trick or Treat!”
Can you imagine trying to explain the tradition of Halloween to an Alien?
Captain America: “Well… you see… there’s this one day out of the year where children are encouraged to dress up in a costume and walk around the neighborhood and knock on people’s doors asking for candy. And guess what? People actually give the kids candy. Lots of candy. Boatloads of candy.”
Alien: “What happens if they come back the next day?”
Captain America: “No Candy!”
Another interesting fact of the practice of Halloween is the wearing of “Masks”…
Some children, teenagers and even adults who approached my house were unrecognizable due to the wearing of a “mask.”
From Storm Troopers to Panda Bear heads to Spiderman to Jason (from Friday the 13th movie) to a simple white mask with a smile on it… people were completely disguised!
All of which raises this question…
With Halloween being over… tell me… will you be wearing a “mask” today?
Yesterday was for fun.
Today is for real.
I am wondering if the people you encounter today will experience the true you, the real you, the authentic you, the transparent you…
Will they experience you “unmasked?”
One of the beautiful and magnificent traits of God is He loves you just as you are and not as you should be (mask), because you are never going to be as you should be.
No masks needed with God.
And…
No masks needed with each other…
Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
“For freedom Christ has set us free…” (Galatians 5: 1)
Ps – Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour on Saturday night!
If you forget you will be awfully early to church!
