It’s the last Thursday of October…
Very reflective morning spent in the backyard watching the hummingbirds, the bees and the birds feed off the blooms of the flowers against the south wall.
I am not sure how all this works, but these hummingbirds, bees and birds are enjoying the nectar of the flowers and somehow pollen gets all over the hummingbirds, bees and birds.
The hummingbirds, bees and birds then take flight…
Along the way, the pollen on these hummingbirds, bees and birds “cross pollinate” onto other plants and flowers, providing much needed nourishment, allowing those other plants and flowers to grown and flourish.
Got me thinking…
What are we feeding on these days?
What are we covering our bodies with these days?
As we take flight from home to work to yoga to the smoothie bar to the “Cheers” bar to the school to the kids to the church to the gym to the dinner table to the bedroom back to work to yoga to the smoothie bar to the… (You get the idea!)
With what are we cross pollinating the world?
We are not much different than the hummingbirds, the bees and the birds.
What we feed on, what we ingest, what we nourish our bodies and souls on, what we intake and what we cover ourselves with…
Will most positively be spread, dumped, pollinated, drizzled, poured, showered, sprinkled and offered to the people whose paths we cross.
I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s wise counsel…
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (2 Corinthians 9: 6)
Like the hummingbirds, the bees and the birds,
Let’s bountifully feed off the nectar, flower and fruit of the Holy Spirit:
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Let’s then take flight and cross pollinate the world…
What the worlds needs now is the pollen of the power of the loving Holy Spirit…
Get those wings ready…
Fly away… fly away… fly away…
