RestoredHeadlightsatNight
I pulled into the parking garage at the hospital. As I crept closer to the dark wall before me in my chosen parking space, the headlights of my 2006 Nissan Maxima automatically came on.
Problem…
Only one came on.
Problem…
The one illuminated headlight was only half-lit.
After my hospital visit another meeting beckoned.
After that meeting another meeting at the church beckoned (a lot of beckoning yesterday!).
That last meeting lasted until 8:00 pm.
Time to go home.
Problem…
Darkness covered the land!

My wife Julie and son Joshua were standing in the driveway as I made my way down the street in the dark with only one half-lit headlight.
As I entered the driveway they both laughed at just how pathetic my car looked.
I know the question on your mind… “How did you get home, driving in the dark with only one half-lit headlight?”
Great question! I am so glad you asked.
Here’s the answer…
“I used the other lights available to me. I used the street lights. I used other people’s headlights to navigate my way through the darkness.”
Jesus said two very important things:
1. I am the light of the world (John 8: 12)
2. You are the light of the world (Matthew 5: 14)
Let me encourage you, implore you, challenge you, inspire you to keep the light of your life shining bright. Do whatever it takes to keep your light brilliant for all to see.
You just might be shedding enough light for someone whose own headlights of life are broken and they are relying on your light to navigate their way through a dark and uncertain time.
You are the light of the world!
Shine on!!
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (2 Corinthians 4: 6)

  1. So true. It balances out from when we provide light and when we need light.
