Delayed
Thursday’s Thoughts from Pastor David
It’s the first day and the first Thursday of February – a tremendous twofer!!
Have you ever been delayed?
In Traffic?
On an airplane?
By a phone call?
By a friend?
By a text message?
In receiving an answer to a prayer request?
Have you ever heard of God’s timing being perfect?
Never late and never early?
Do we really believe God is always on time?
This Sunday at Mountain View Presbyterian Church we look at the resurrection of Lazarus.
Lazarus is sick.
He is about to die.
His sisters mount a charge to get the word to Jesus, who will no doubt come running and save Lazarus and ultimately heal Lazarus…
The word gets to Jesus…
Jesus calls for the chariots!
“Get the horses ready!”, he shouts!
On a trail of blaze and glory, Jesus high tails it to where Lazarus lays sick.
Arriving just in the nick of time, Jesus saves the day!
Lazarus is healed!
Everyone goes home happy!
End of story!! Woohoo for Jesus!
Jesus to the rescue – Just in time!
Except…
That isn’t how the story goes at all.
Jesus doesn’t come running at all.
There are no chariots at all.
No horses blazing at all.
Jesus delays…
Lazarus dies…
Sisters disappointed…
What’s the point?
The point is Jesus is about to do something great!
All because of his delay…
Feeling that God’s hand in your life is delayed these days?
Well… maybe God is about to do something great…
Just in the right and perfect time…
Grace and peace,
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
