It was the perfect day for flag football.
Temperature in the low 70’s. Not a cloud in the sky and the typical balmy humid air was as dry as New Mexico.
The game began and the faithful families found their spots along the sideline to cheer on their respective gridiron greats.
The “Mom” next to us had her hands full with a little boy who was about 3 or 4.
Not more than 5 minutes into the game he said in the sweetest little four year old voice, “Mommy, I need to go to the baffwoom.”
Mommy was none to pleased as her son had just scored a touchdown and being taken away from the game was not part of the prepared plan for spectating.
Off they went with Mom in a bit of a huff and a puff and the little boy waddling as fast as his 18 inch legs would take him.
Within five minutes they were back and mom was once again cheering in her best cheerleader voice.
Not more than two minutes had passed when her little boy moseyed on over to her seat, batted his eyelashes with the cutest of smirks, tugged on his mama’s shorts and said these epic words, “Mommy, I pooped my pants…(insert pregnant pause)…again.”
I thought Julie and I were going to come right out of our seats we were laughing so hard with our lips pursed shut as tight as a vice grip making my insides feel like they were going to explode any second.
The Mom’s out loud audible response with her head bobbing backwards, hands thrusted heavenward and her eyes rolling upward was an instant classic, “Oh dear Lord Jesus!!”
SeeingGodAtWorkEveryday
How many times have I come before God and basically uttered the same thing?
“Abba, Father, I have messed up (I pooped my pants)…(insert pregnant pause)…again.”
It’s the word “again” that drives me batty!!
It’s also what drove this mom crazy at the flag football game.
Just when we get cleaned up and get moving again, boom…we’ve pooped our pants…AGAIN!!!
I hope and pray that God doesn’t respond with, “Oh dear Lord Jesus!!”
I do have the strong feeling that God lovingly and graciously responds with, “Come on son, let’s get you cleaned up.”
What else should I expect by now? O what a magnificent God we worship!
Here’s the question of the day…
Have you pooped your pants recently?
Me too…
You are in good company! Welcome to the Super Duper Pooper Club!
If you haven’t, then I am not sure I know what to tell you other than when the time comes and you have really made a mess of yourself, please know that you will find nothing but comfort, grace, forgiveness and acceptance.
Better to admit it and let God graciously clean you up versus sitting in it for the rest of your life!
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1. 8-9 ESV)
See you at the diaper changing station…
