Lent Day 14 – I am the Door
“On Lent Day 14 – I am the Door” we examine the third “I am” saying by Jesus found in John 10: 7-9: So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.”
The key word in this “I am” saying is “the”.
Jesus proclaims, “I am THE door.”
He is not “a” door.
He is not one door among many.
He is THE door.
The door is not a program.
The door is not a belief or a practice.
The door is not a philosophy or a theology.
The door is a person who grants access to the eternal pasture of God’s provision in the here and now and for all of eternity.
Believe me when I say I have tried a bunch of “other” doors looking for fulfillment, satisfaction, purpose and joy.
It wasn’t until I crossed the threshold of “the door of Jesus” where I found and continue to find pure joy, compassion, purpose, and unconditional love.
Jesus says, “I am the door”, come on in!
It’s the greatest invitation I have ever accepted.
I hope you have accepted yours…
Laugh often and Fear not!
David!
