They’re calling you Harvey as you blow your breath up to 160 miles an hour. Your arms gather the seas and with one swing of your limbs you surge the sea six to twelve feet. You threatened to hit the shoreline with your “eye wall” for hours on end and then you did, obliterating everything in your path.
They’re calling you Harvey…
But you are a multi-personality monster…
I know you by the name of “Divorce”. Three times this week I talk with victims of your destruction as your storm surge have broken up marriages and families..
I know you by the name of “Disease.” How many people, good people, faithful people, loving people, caring people, do I see week in and week out whose lives are upended by your underlings whose names cause every heart to shudder – Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Cancer, Lupus, ALS, Stroke, Leukemia, Alcoholism…
I know you by the name of “Distraction” – You’re such a blowhard, you demand so much attention and resources, we forget about your cousins and siblings – Racism, Sexism, Political division, Poverty, Hunger, Sex Trafficking, Prostitution, Terrorism… As all eyes are on you, these cousins and siblings continue to wreck and rattle.
One name you may not claim, will not hold, cannot be entitled to is “Destroyer.” You cannot destroy. Oh, you may rattle and roar, but your time will come to an end. You start out as a Cat 4 and before long you will be nothing more than a drizzle. Those who are in God’s hands cannot be destroyed. Oh how I love the way God holds us so gingerly and yet so tightly in His hands. I love what Jesus has to say about our security in the hands of the Father – “No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (John 10 29) No one! Hear that Harvey or whatever your name is. No one snatches them out of the hand of the Father. No one!
