“Lent Day 19 – 5,000 Fed” watches Jesus feed 5,000 men with 5 loaves and 2 small fish given to him by a young boy.
This is the only miracle where all four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) record this miracle in their account in the life and ministry of Jesus.
Two things we will discover in this miracle:
1. Jesus needed the boy’s lunch. The boy gave it to Jesus without question, hesitation or pushback. What does Jesus need from you today? And when that need is placed on your heart, how will you respond? May we respond with the faith and enthusiasm of the young boy!
2. Jesus told the disciples the people needed to be fed. Philip looked at the ministry opportunity as an economic transaction. “Do you know how much money it is going to take to fee all these people?”, Philip balked. Philip’s mindset was one of scarcity. Jesus’ mindset was one of abundance as the people were fed with five loaves and two fish and they subsequently collected twelve baskets of leftovers.
